Club Venue(s):
The Hobie Fleet 926 typically sail from (& keep their boats on the beach) North Idaho College on Lake Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The Bic fleet typically sails off of the North Idaho College beach, also at Avondale Lake (Hayden Idaho), Radiant Lake (Rathdrum Idaho), Medical Lake (WA.) - these are no power boat lakes. The Catalina 22 fleet is primarily a trailerable sailing group. The RC Dinghy & FastCat fleets primarily sail on the River Stone Park Pond in Coeur d'Alene Idaho. All our fleets promote joining your local sailing club/association (except for the RC model fleets which is an entity within its self). By joining your local sailing club/assoc. you and your fleet gain greater support and in turn add more members to the respective club/association you join; a win win situation for all! Each fleet plans trips to many of the small and big lakes & Rivers/Reservoirs within the Inland NW. Sometimes we leave the Inland NW area for various regattas and events, etc.
ATTENTION - Park your dinghy sailboat on the North Idaho College beach! It costs $400 to park your boat on the Easterly portion of the North Idaho College beach and $250 as a fleet member to park on the westerly portion of the beach for the season. For more info call North Idaho College Outdoor Pursuits @ 208-769-1381 or 769-5941. We are currently working on a project where sailors can park their sailboats on trailers in a secure location that gives you access to Lake Coeur d'Alene (more info coming shortly). |

| Some interesting facts and
info about the Kootenai (City of Coeur d'Alene in Idaho and Kootenai County)
and Spokane area! For those who don't know about Kootenai County (Coeur d'Alene area) it is located in Northern Idaho and Spokane County is located in Eastern Washington State USA. The biggest city in Kootenai county is Coeur d'Alene & Spokane is the biggest city in Spokane county and these cities are only separated by 35 miles of semi populated prairie land. Between Spokane County and Kootenai County (the Coeur d'Alene area) there is a population of about 530,000 people which is expected to grow to 700,000 in 5 years. The biggest lake in the area is Lake Pend Oreille (50 miles long and 20 miles across at its widest point), which hosts a nuclear sub base with an average depth of 1,200 ft. Lake Coeur d'Alene (30 miles long and 5 miles across at the widest point) is the second biggest lake, which is known as one of the the most beautiful lakes in the world with an average depth of 80 ft, which makes it a much warmer lake than Lake Pend Oreille. The St. Joe (the highest navigable river in the world) and Coeur d'Alene rivers empty into Lake Coeur d'Alene and the Spokane river (the river goes right through down town Spokane) carries the waters of Lake Coeur d'Alene to the Columbia River and on into the Pacific Ocean. There are about 40 dinghy sailable lakes in the Coeur d'Alene, Spokane, and surrounding area, not counting the many small ponds (great for radio controlled model sailboat sailing). Some of these smaller lakes are Hauser, Liberty, Sprague, and Rock Lakes, and at certain times of the year the winds are very consistent and a pleasure to sail on. The city of Coeur d'Alene is nestled to the east by the foot hills of the Rocky Mountains and Spokane is right on the edge (East) of the Columbia Basin desert. What makes Kootenai and Spokane area so intriguing and a great place to live is its outdoor opportunities (great skiing in the winter and cycling in the summer by the way), wildlife, warm community life, industry, and most importantly its people. Did you know that in particular North Idaho has the most bike paths per capita in North America and Spokane county is connect with this system with some great paths as well. Also North Idaho is home to the Trail of the Coeur d'Alene and the Hiawatha Trail rated as the two most spectacular trails in North America, you have to ride the trails to believe it. In addition there is great cross country ski opportunities with groomed trails at Farragut State Park, 4th of July Pass, English Point, and Spokane Mountain. Some say xc skiing in our area is the best kept secret in the good old USA, oops I guess the secret is out! Come and visit us any time, and while you are at it go for a sail, which is from our point of view the best part about living in the Coeur d'Alene and Spokane area! We hope you will either join or visit us some day, and thanks for taking the time to visit our website!! |
